Originally constructed in 1897 as a merchant's mansion on Cerro Alegre — Valparaíso's most celebrated hill — Casa Vertiente has stood witness to the city's golden maritime age, its rebellious bohemian decades, and its renaissance as a UNESCO World Heritage destination.
